Music and Happiness is the place where you can get information as well as specific guidance to keep yourself strong in mind, spirit and body through music as you age.

It’s vitally important, particularly once you have passed your 50th birthday, to spend serious time thinking about how you want to live in the future. Because the good choices you make now will help you stay more youthful when you get older.

We are living proof of this, since we are still committed to walking our talk in our 7th decade.

Josh credits music with saving his life when he was young and in very difficult circumstances.  He has played the violin and taught music history and appreciation since the 1960′s.  He started out as a lover of classical music then opened himself to jazz and pop music and world music. If we ever get to Mars, he’ll probably fall in love with E.T.’s music too!

Lynne loves music as a rank amateur.  Her expertise is in connecting music to what we are learning from the science of positive psychology about “optimal human functioning”–being the best you can be.

Our sense of well-being, especially as we grow older, can be seriously compromised by life’s vicissitudes. If we can learn how to help ourselves retain–and even increase–good feelings like optimism and zest, we can move forward in our lives with greater confidence and comfort. Music is a universal means by which we can do this very easily. We will try to show you how in this blog through suggesting various activities you can try on your own.

We also give in-person workshops and teleseminars where you can have the opportunity to join in creative play with us, because music is meant to be listened to, moved to, danced to, sung or hummed along with. It can stimulate the brain so that you may want to write or paint or express yourself in some other way as you listen. It can enhance visualization exercises, opening your mind to unexpected new ideas that revitalize you.

We haven’t even begun to describe the many ways that music can enrich your life. The older you grow, the greater its power can be.
